Hi,

This is a picture of 'Stilton', a Belgian Blue X heifer, she is approximately 3 years old. She was around two and half years old when this picture was taken.

We've called her Stilton because her body markings resemble that of Stilton cheese. She recently gave birth to her first heifer calf who we've named Primose. She is a Limousin X Belgian Blue and is now almost 6 months old. I'll have to remember to post a picture of her on this blog so that you can get to see her. She doesn't resemble Stilton in her coloring since she is a rich red color and is an adorable calf. She is taken great care of by Stilton.

Stilton is quite independent in nature, although very shy and at first she was not very approachable. However, I decided I wanted to get to know her better since she seemed to find it difficult to stick up for herself among the other cows. So, I started hand feeding hay to her and before you know it, she'd let me walk right up to her and start grooming her. Now, if she sees us walking across the field, she's one of the first ones there to greet us with a 'Have you got us something nice today?' attitude.

Yesterday, Stilton did a kind of leaping dance when she saw us coming into the field. She thought we had some delicious apples and plums to feed her. She wasn't the only cow asking for fruit. The others had also seen us coming and they decided to come and see what we had to offer.
